Sangiovese grape can be traced back to ancient Rome, whose name derives from the Latin ` Sanguis Jovis, “ the blood of Jove”, referring to the Roman god of Jupiter. It is most famous as the main component of the Chianti blend in Tuscany.

Winemaking

The grapes are de-stemmed into open fermenting vats. Juice was inoculated with suitable yeast culture, the cap was hand plunged 3 times daily, with total maceration time of 12 days. The fermented wine (the Must) was pressed into tanks to undergo malolactic fermentation.

Maturation

In 225 Litre new and used French Oak Barrels, for a period of 14 months. The wine was then blended from the barrels and clarified prior to bottling.

Colour

Intense violet colour to brick red with bottle age.

Aromas

Sweet cherry, strawberries, blackberry, red plum, with a background of chocolate and savoury notes.

Palate

The palate is medium and distinctive with berry fruit, fine texture and soft ripe tannins.
